First Semester Farm School 2022!
What a great start to our year! We’ve had the privilege of watching these little learners explore all the topics we’ve covered the first half of the year. Whether it’s cutting apples and counting the seeds inside, gluing our dried flowers to our flower pots, or sponge painting the different phases of the moon, these kids are never in short supply of wonder!
Here are some of the themes we’ve been able to take a closer look at this first half of the year:
TUESDAY NATURE STUDY: Mini-beast Hunt, Seeds, Autumn Leaves, Fungus Study, Moss Study, Weather, Birds, Winter Sky, Moon Study, and Winter Trees!
THURSDAY LIFE SKILLS: Farm Life, Autumn Apples, Little Green Thumbs, Junior Chefs, Outside In Autumn, Pumpkins, Feelings & Emotions, Thankfulness, Joy & Giving, The Stories We Love, Health Hygiene, and Community Helpers!
As much as we love to cover the themes throughout the year, we could never replace it with the unstructured playtime we can offer them here. As we grow in our program, we are finding new ways to help our students CREATE in the midst of this free time. We are seeing our students build new friendships, step out of their comfort zones, and come up with some amazing new ways to play! And we are adjusting to all the ways we can best assist them in their discoveries.
As the seasons change, we get the chance to spend time outside in all the elements. We are always amazed at how much time our little learners can spend outdoors amidst all the weather changes. We’ve been able to bundle up and play even on some of the more damp, cold days! Our animals like to hunker down this time of year, but we find ways to spend time with them inside the barn.
Of course, we’ve had some weeks of sickness, sad goodbyes, and conflicts between friends. But we look at everything as an opportunity to learn and grow. We look forward to the second half of our year loving on our students and learning more about them, as they continue to learn about themselves!
Stay tuned for our Spring Semester update -which is right around the corner, right? :)
